College Education Planning - Threading the Needle Between College Financial Aid & Tax Planning -or- How to Make the Dream of College a Reality
Print This Page Online Registration Form

Date    August 17, 2010
Location    Mahoney State Park, Ashland, NE
Course Time 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Most people give up on pursuit of college financial aid prematurely or, worse yet, don't even apply. Most conventional tax planning strategies cost you a fortune in lost financial aid. Congress has provided many new vehicles for saving and investing for college and new college tax credits but many of these breaks are not available to middle and high income taxpayers. Some planning techniques, not even labeled as college incentives, are perhaps the best choices. This course helps you design an appropriate, successful plan to enable a youth or adult to financially save and prepare for college.

Course Highlights & Objectives
Avoiding the deadly conflict between tax planning and financial aid planning. Brilliance in structuring loans. Designing and implementing a successful college planning strategy. Financial aid formulas and strategies: Proper asset structure and timing of income. How a student can attend a private college for the cost of a state college. How to negotiate with colleges and universities. IRC § 529 plans: choice of proper state plan and operational maneuvers. Planning to maximize financial aid. Solving the complex maze of rules and choices. Tax planning strategies galore: the best are not the most obvious.
Who Should Attend
Accountants who wish to benefit personally (planning for their own children's or families' college educations) and professionally (expanding their practice expertise to enable them to profitably and competently counsel clients toward establishing successful college education plans).
