This half-day course will focus on valuable lessons learned from the financial scandals. It will analyze situations that require close scrutiny, regardless of the professional service being performed by the CPA. It will also provide guidance on dealing with fraudulent financial reporting, including discussions of phony sales, parked inventory sales, channel stuffing, swap transactions, side letter agreements, accelerated revenue etc. It also provides an overview of the guidance in SAS No. 99, "Consideration of Fraud in a Financial Statement Audit." It also addresses certain accounting pronouncements concerning proper recording of revenue.
