  Society Member Discounts
The Society allows a $30 member discount for individuals attending a Nebraska Society CPE course provided the individual is a member of the Nebraska Society or is a non-CPA staff person of a firm having Nebraska Society of CPAs’ members. The course price and the discounted price for Society members are published with each course description in this catalog.

A $15 Coupon can be used once by each Society member on one course throughout the current CPE year. The coupon is published in the April and May editions of the The Nebraska CPA.

  AICPA Discounts
AICPA members who register for a course provided by the AICPA will receive a $30 discount for each applicable 8-hour AICPA course and a $20 discount for each applicable 4-hour AICPA course as noted in the course information.

  Late Registrations
Registrations postmarked or faxed to the Society office less than ten (10) days prior to the presentation date of a course should include a $25 late fee.

Registrations submitted two days prior to the course do not guarantee a reservation in the course. Walk-ins are available on a space-available basis only and do not guarantee course materials.

  Sold Out Courses
For some courses, space and material are limited. It is best to register at least two months prior to the course to ensure your space in the course. However, if the course is "sold out," you will be notified by phone by the Society staff. You will be given the option to transfer to a different course or receive a refund.

  Registration Confirmations
After the registration has been received by the Nebraska Society office, a confirmation will be mailed to the course registrant. The registration confirmation will include the attendee’s name, course or conference date, site location and starting time. Be sure to review it carefully. Occasionally there may be a starting time or location change that is different from what was published in the CPE catalog.

If you do not receive a confirmation from us within one week of sending your registration, contact the Nebraska Society office immediately.

  Course Cancellations
The Society reserves the right to cancel a course due to insufficient enrollment or inclement weather. If the class is cancelled due to insufficient enrollment, the Society will contact you at least five (5) days prior to the course by phone. In the case of bad weather, the Society office staff will call each enrollee as soon as physically possible. In both cases, the enrollee will be given the option to receive a refund or transfer the amount paid to a different Society course.

If you must cancel your registration, cancellations must be received in writing (mail, fax (402.476.8731) or email (society@nescpa.org).

Cancellations received in the Society office five (5) working days prior to the course presentation date will receive a full refund. A $25 cancellation fee will be deducted from the full refund for those cancelling two (2) to four (4) working days prior to the course presentation date. Except in special circumstances, no refunds will be granted those attempting to cancel registrations less than two (2) full working days prior to the course presentation date.

Any registrant may substitute another individual for his or her registration up to the beginning of the first morning session of the course without any penalty.

If you are registered for a conference or a course and do not attend, you are still obligated for the conference/course fee. Once the balance due has been paid in full, the conference or course materials will be sent to you. It is appreciated if you would contact the Society office as soon as possible if you do not atttend.

  CPE Credit
All courses listed in this catalog have been submitted to the Nebraska Board of Public Accountancy for approval of recommended CPE credit. See “CPE Credit” in the course descriptions in this catalog for approved CPE hours.

After the last course of the CPE year (usually in December), each Society member registrant will be mailed a summary of all Society courses taken and the number of CPE credit hours earned.

  Knowledge Levels
Courses listed in this catalog are designated as to the level of knowledge the participant should have of the subject matter before registering for and attending the course.
  • A Basic level course teaches fundamental principles and skills. This level is for participants with limited or no exposure to this subject area.
  • An Intermediate level course builds on a basic level or upon fundamental principles and skills and focuses on their application. This level is for participants with some exposure to this subject area.
  • An Advanced level course focuses on the development of in-depth knowledge, a variety of skills and/or a broader range of applications. This level is for participants with significant exposure to this subject area.
  • An Update level course provides a general overview of new developments. It is for participants with a background in this subject area who wish to remain current.

Reminder - Nebraska's New CPE Rules
New rules for Continuing Professional Education for Nebraska CPAs became effective February 25, 2004. Most noted among the new rules is a four-hour ethics requirement for biennial license renewals (80 CPE hours) and reinstatements (120 CPE hours). The new rules also clarify the number of CPE hours allowed for self-study, faculty and college semester credit hours, and grant the Nebraska Board of Public Accountancy the authority to request documentation from a permit holder for five years from their last reporting period. If you have any questions about the new CPE rules, you should contact their office at (800) 564-6111 or you can also view the rules on their website at www.nbpa.ne.gov.

  Record Retention
The Society office generally retains records for three (3) years.

  Evaluation Forms
Evaluation forms are distributed after every CPE course and conference. Please take time to complete these. The Society office and discussion leaders do read these and take the comments and concerns seriously.
