Summary
Level 4 focuses on building upon an auditor's technical experience to identify and resolve complex accounting and financial reporting issues, and introduces improving people and project management. This course will teach the skills necessary to improving the firm's profitability and ability to deliver high quality audits for more complex engagements.
Objectives
* Explain common fraud schemes in small and mid-size entities * Describe the importance of thoughtful workpaper review * Explain more advanced internal control and analytic procedures techniques * Research complex accounting and financial reporting issues * Discuss the critical importance of proper client and engagement management to ensure a high quality and profitable audit * Be familiar with the results of the numerous case studies, exercises, and illustrations that reinforce key learning points throughout the course
Highlights
Each module includes a lecture followed by in-class group case studies and activities. In this two-day course, the following two-hour modules will be presented: * Day 1: o Fraud risk considerations: Fraud trends in smaller and mid-size environments o Audit documentation & review: Responsibilities when reviewing workpapers o Risk-based audit concepts: Assessing risk for a higher quality audit o Internal controls: Internal control advanced concepts for smaller entities * Day 2: o Auditing complex issues: Auditing estimates o Analytical procedures: Maximizing analytic procedure audit evidence to interpret financial results o Research: Performing research using the FASB codification o Client and engagement management: Best practices for effective and efficient engagements
