The Director of Accounting & Finance reports to the CFO and is responsible for overseeing financial statements, accounts payable, accounts receivable and payroll. This person is also responsible for directing the operations of the Accounting Team.

Requirements

Project Management

  • Supervision of payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general accounting functions of the Accounting Team.
  • Responsible for recognizing the need for allocation of division revenue and expense and the accuracy of making the appropriate allocations.
  • Encourage ideas and creative approaches for continuous improvement.
  • Analyze, prepare, and issue timely and complete month-end reports and analytics.

Operational Leadership (Lead, Manage, Accountable)

  • Lead, support, and develop the accounting team while driving efficiency & automation.
  • Mentor/develop direct reports and retain top performers.
  • Provide training and guidance to accounting staff and non-financial people across the company.
  • Responsible for coordinating across departments demonstrating working knowledge of general accounting, revenue cycle, payroll, accounts payable and month-end closing processes.

Profit / Loss Management

  • Produce operational statistical reports for effective decision-making and strategy including analysis, trending, and comparative data.
  • Lead/maintain relationships with external auditors, accounting/tax advisors, and internal controls.
  • Provide comprehensive financial updates to the executive team and governing board by evaluating, analyzing, and reporting appropriate data points.
  • Assist management in financial decisions.
  • Analyze financial reports to establish the cause and formulate advice to be taken.

Skills /Abilities

  • Skilled in using project management applications (ex. Asana, Microsoft Planner).
  • Advanced competency using Microsoft Products (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • A keen eye for detail.
  • Ability to work methodically and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to successfully interact with a variety of personality types.
  • Strong organizational skills including the ability to prioritize.
  • Maintain confidentiality.

Minimum Experience / Education / Designations / Licenses

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, minimum 5 years’ experience in management or supervisory position, CPA or CMA preferred.
  • A combination of education, training, and experience may be considered.
  • Proven ability to analyze financial data, prepare financial reports, statements, and projections.

Work Environment / Physical Demands

  • Typical schedule will be Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm.
  • This position will occasionally require an adjusted work schedule such as evening or weekend hours to complete necessary responsibilities.
  • Primarily working in Lincoln, Neb., office, with remote flexibility.
  • Minimal to no travel.
  • The ability to transport, lift, and carry up to 25 pounds is an essential job function.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
