Accounting Manager

Accounting Manager Essential Job Functions

  • Oversees and maintains the general ledger, ensuring accounts are reconciled, appropriate documentation is maintained, and the accounting system is effectively managed.
  • Conducts accounting activities and functions including, but not limited to: accounts receivable, revenue and payroll recognition and reconciliation, bank reconciliations, and other month-end close duties.
  • Provides general oversight and support to the in-house billing team to ensure receivables are monitored, revenue is appropriately recognized, and billing is in compliance with applicable laws and regulations. This position reviews weekly and monthly billing reports to ensure accurate and timely submissions are made to state agencies, insurance providers, school districts, and private pay clients. Helps ensure accuracy on re-submissions, oversees billing errors and denials, and assists with projects as needed. Clinical specialties include: rehabilitation therapy (physical, occupational, speech, feeding), behavioral health therapy, ABA therapy, and general nursing.
  • Provides support to Accounting Specialist with accounts payable, credit cards, and other account reconciliations as needed.
  • Assists CFO and Accounting Specialist with Microsoft Dynamics Business Central 365 accounting system issues and questions.
  • Assists the CFO with financial analysis, reporting, and budgeting.
  • Coordinates the audit process and collaborates with external auditors, providing necessary documentation and support.
  • Provides payroll processing support to Human Resources as needed. Provides Human Resources with documentation and support for 401K, tax, and other reporting requirements.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Proficient computer skills including strong working knowledge of Excel, Outlook, and Word.
  • Understanding of standard accounting principles and processes.
  • Must possess excellent communication skills, oral and written, alongside the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with external and internal stakeholders.
  • Data entry and word processing skills with accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Conducts self in a professional manner, working to solve problems and find new ways to improve and implement efficiencies within the organization.
  • Maintains confidentiality with all information regarding our clients and their families.
  • Ability to give superior customer service and effectively answer questions.
  • Ability to prioritize, multi-task, and know when to escalate issues.
  • Ability to meet organization’s conditions of employment regarding health status and clearance with the Nebraska Child Abuse/Neglect Central Registry and/or Adult Abuse/Neglect Registry and the Nebraska State Patrol.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, required; CPA designation, preferred.
  • A minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible experience in accounting and finance, with demonstrated success in managing accounting processes and reporting requirements, required.
  • A minimum of 3 years of healthcare billing experience, required.
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365, Business Central, preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently manage time and deadlines effectively.
  • This position often serves as the main point of contact with school districts, state agencies, internal leadership, and other stakeholders. Excellent communication skills are needed alongside a commitment to building and maintaining strong relationships with our external stakeholders, the finance team, and others within the organization.
